Living on a rock

The apartment complex aims to respect the local residential scale of this Norwegian island, keeping the traditional pitched roof shapes in a dynamic settlement. The views to both mountains and ocean are a key element for the disposal of the houses and its plan solutions, allowing flexibility of internal spaces. The whole complex is cladded with the same timber, so it is seen as an unit seating on its hilly landscape. The different scale of the timber patterns refines the building from the pedestrian perspective and adds identity to each unit.
